    The Office of Suicide Prevention serves as the lead entity for suicide prevention and intervention efforts in Colorado, collaborating with communities statewide to reduce the number of suicide deaths and attempts in Colorado. In an attempt to broaden the reach and impact of state-level suicide prevention efforts, the office emphasizes using state funding to address strategic priority areas. These priority areas include funding local initiatives, supporting a statewide crisis line, increasing knowledge about suicide risk and prevention resources, training individuals to recognize and respond to suicidal crisis, and forming and leading collaborative partnerships at the state and local level.

    The Suicide Prevention Coalition of Colorado (SPCC) was formed in 1999, when concerned citizens set out to create a statewide agency with the purpose of preventing suicide and creating a resource network for those who were working to prevent suicide around the state. Today, SPCC’s membership of concerned agencies, organizations and individuals who are working in the areas of suicide prevention, intervention and postvention has statewide reach.

    The Carson J Spencer Foundation was established in 2005 to preserve the memory of Carson J. Spencer, who took his life after a difficult battle with bipolar disorder on December 7, 2004. We sustain a passion for life through: Delivering innovative and effective suicide prevention programs for working-aged people; coaching young leaders to develop social enterprises for mental health promotion and suicide prevention; and supporting people bereaved by suicide.

    The mission of Second Wind Fund is to decrease the incidence of suicide in children and youth by removing the financial and social barriers to treatment. Referrals for Second Wind funded therapy must come from a school mental health staff or another qualified referral source (QRS) who is a mental health professional.

We believe that with proper attention and intervention, lives can be saved.
