Over 150 attendees were at the 2024 Summit to explore the challenges, complexities, growth, and hope in suicide prevention, intervention, and lived experience. The 2024 theme of Suicide: So Many Facets, No Easy Answers brought in keynote and breakout sessions that gave promising trauma-informed practices that address social environments and decrease the likelihood of suicide, assist those who struggle with suicidal thinking, and help survivors of suicide loss regain their equilibrium following a loved one’s suicide attempt or death by suicide.

Congratulations to our 2024 Award Winners

  • Advocacy Award Winner – Bruce Brown
    • Bruce was nominated for spearheading Colorado House Bill 24-1081 to regulate the sale transfer of sodium nitrite. Bruise  helped achieve passage of this important legislation in both houses of the Colorado State Assembly.  The Senate passed the legislation with a small amendment (34-1) and the House ratified the legislation with the amendment (59-3). The effective date of the law, once signed, is July 1, 2024.
    • Bruce tragically lost his son to suicide by sodium nitrite. His efforts bring hope of preventing more deaths by this method.
  • Media Award Winner – Podium Pictures
    • Podium Pictures was nominated for producing the documentary film THE PARADISE PARADOX. The film explores the mental health crisis affecting America’s mountain towns and the innovative solutions being developed in response.  Specifically, this film features Eagle and Grand Counties in Colorado and the impact of suicide as well as what is being done to address the problem.  The film uses safe messaging and many best practices.  The producers were willing to take feedback around best practices as well. The producers also developed “The Weight of Gold” about the mental health challenges of Olympic athletes.
